IPhone 5 Apple may be in short supply, analyst argues

The mad rush to catch the annual new iPhone may be a bit madder than this year, with one analyst saying that there are not an abundance of iPhone 5S phones to go around September 20.

In a note to investors on Friday, Jefferies analyst Peter Misek claims "terrible" production yields Touch new ID fingerprint sensor led to a chronic shortage of new phones.

Munster estimates that the company will have only between 5 and 10 million phones ready to go for the remained of this quarter, when Apple's most loyal devotees should withdraw device.

The alleged deficiency may explain why Apple doesn't offer pre-orders for the device and does not start the sales until the actual release date.

May want to ensure as many phones as you can get in the hands of those lined up at its stores next Friday. If Misek is correct, it seems that a limited number of phones will be available online before those pesky delivery estimates begin to rise.

Of course, this year, there are two new phones going on sale, it can split the pack of iPhone buyers and ensure supplies are not iPhone 5S too quickly extinguished the iPhone c open for pre-orders today, before the release of next week. Misek estimates that Apple will have plenty of those to go around as it has built 20 m handsets by the end of the quarter.
