Fairphone arose as a first joint phone

The first smartphone in the world trade fair has been unveiled as Fairphone and calls the most ethically sourced device on the market.

Fairphone smartphone is the product of the company's campaign for fair wages and working conditions for people working in the supply chain for manufacturers of smartphones.

Product manager, that Miquel Ballester decided that making a smartphone would help the campaign, especially since the company is working together with the pressure groups to ensure the phone is fair trade.

"The whole point of social enterprise Fairphone and the campaign that came before intervening on the ground where the problems originated," said Ballester. "It's just as a producer you're playing under the same rules as the major brands. Then you can have a real impact. "

Other smartphone makers, including giants like Apple and Samsung, have been criticized for saying that links to sources of conflict zone for their smartphone supply chains.

Armed militia groups are mining crews in countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo, where big smartphone manufacturers source of materials like tantalum, Tin and tungsten and those groups are reaping the financial rewards.

Created by tin and tantlum, Fairphone materials are extracted from the mines without conflict in South Kivu in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, meaning that none of the profits goes toward purchases of weapons.

"With the classic social audit of producers that has been done over the last 20 years, you can tick some boxes and earn a certification, but once you turn around and leave the factory there is nothing to stop things from changing," added Ballester, explaining that the FAirphone is not 100% fair. "For us, it's about creating a business environment that fosters ethical treatment since the beginning."

The Fairphone has a 4.3-inch screen resolution of unknown and runs a modified version of Android.

There is a dual SIM card slots, and can be opened by consumers who want to experiment with its hardware.

Available from December, the Fairphone will have a price tag of £272. I'm already almost 15,000 device units pre-ordered.
