battery life problems of iOS 7 – How to fix battery drain

iOS 7 is a significant update to the iPhone software. However, it introduces a rather serious problem – battery drain.

Web navigation tests have shown that it is not only in our minds, either. iOS 7 is really a more power-hungry than iOS 6.

However, there are ways to reduce battery drain 7 iOS. Follow these tips and tricks for a better battery life than the iPhone.

The most reliable way to solve any problem of real life battery is to restore your iPhone as a new phone. Having to reinstall applications is a pain, but this move helps to solve all sorts of issues of performance and battery life. To restore the receiver's phone, go to Settings General > and scroll down to the bottom, under Reset.

There are options to reset all the settings and completely restore your phone. The latter is more drastic, but it's safe to flush out any gremlins.

It is a bit The IT Crowd, but it's surprising how often we hear people complain about their abnormal behaviour without having tried resetting the iPhone thing. Rogue apps doing things they shouldn't is a key reason for problems with battery life on any phone, and reset this will resolve correctly in many cases.

iPhone really are not designed to be turned off all that often, and as much as we expect them to know how to do it, a long press of the power button (about 3 seconds) brings up a slider that shuts down the phone. For a ' hard ' software reset, press down the home and power button until the screen goes black.

Disable additional functionality is the tip top of any demon drums frugal. iOS 7 this makes it much easier than ever.

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and put themselves at the center of the control. At the beginning of this pop up is a series of five circular icons which toggle features on and off – airplane mode, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, do not disturb and Auto-rotate.

Most people scarcely use Bluetooth – switch that Yob right off – and turn off Wi-Fi when around if you don't really need. iOS 7 intermittently search new Wi-Fi networks, which is a drain on the battery.

As iPhones standard uses the auto-brightness, readings taken from an ambient light sensor on the front of the phone to determine how bright the backlight screen IPS should be. However, you can still determine the basic brightness level while still using this smart sensor.

You will find the slider (and the auto-brightness) brightness settings menu & wallpapers and also in the Control Center, accessible by scrolling from the bottom of the screen.

AirDrop is one of the new features on iOS.  It enables iPhone and Mac talk to each other directly, via Wi-Fi Direct.

It is an idea, but drains battery trying nearby iPhones. In iOS devices that support the feature, you'll find an AirDrop toggle pop-up menu Control Center, accessible by scrolling from the bottom of the screen.

Another little new in iOS 7 is the notifications drop-down menu. As well as new emails, texts and so on, can pull in information to the stock market.

This requires the phone to pull it from the network, so that will drain the battery a bit. Besides, who really wants the stock market info anyway?

To turn off the information in the notification bar, go to settings > notification Center. Here you will find toggles for info, calendar reminders, and the stock ticker.

Push email is one of the joys of the modern smartphone, but the frequency of easing e-mail controls will reduce the strain on the battery.

For better battery strength, turn off push email and search only iPhone for new data when searching manually. You'll find these options in the settings > > Mail fetch new data. Alternatively, you can set iOS 7 to search for mail every hour, every 30 minutes or every 15 minutes.

So simple, it seems almost offensive to mention it, but charge the phone more often is a must with iOS 7. However, the key to this is making it easier to do so. You may want to invest in a Desktop Charger if you work in an Office, how will I hold the phone pay much less of a pain.

Belkin makes a port charger lightning looking nice dock that costs about £24 (search for ' Lightning ' Belkin Dock on Amazon) and I'll get an iPhone or iPad. Alternatively, if you can splash out a bit more and want a dock for the bedroom, dinky Philips D3205 speaker dock-£ 80 from the Apple Store – well worth a look.

Apple is likely to improve the efficiency of iOS 7 battery in future updates. However, it seems to be simply a more power-hungry than iOS 6, which requires a bit more careful use if you want your phone to last more than a day.
