Here the first Galaxy go note 3-camera samples from IFA-2013

We have some early examples of camera from Samsung Galaxy touch 3, which we could break ground 2013 from the Samsung booth at the IFA. While we out there for these questions like we still were happy to see how the 13 MP snapper on the grade 3 back inside the venue.

Before we dig, we get the technical. The Samsung Galaxy touch 3 leads a 13 MP snapper on the back capable of the deliver 4128 x 3096 images. It has a single LED flash (we here don't use that), it starts 2160p@30fps and 1080p@60fps video and provides many proprietary Samsung developed shooting modes.

Also, don't forget that IFAs are artificial lighting conditions determine potential not the best when you try a Smartphone full of camera.

Anyway, back to the images. The Galaxy note 3 shows good early signs and we can bet that it is some of the Galaxy S4 proven imaging used his skills in the own snapper - unless the camera's sensor, module, or only the processing. Pictures turn out well with very high detail.

Also could the touch to shoot 3 below 100 ISO in an environment where we thought that it will exceed 200. Noise is good in chess as well as kept. The camera was super snappy to focus and shoot.

And in case you were wondering - we broke the pink note 3 on the display with one other pink note of 3 Noteception at its finest.

And here is a 1080 p video recording at 30 frames per second. We are quality testing of 60 fps and 2160 p at the appropriate time.

Stay tuned for more coverage on the grade 3.

Android in August 2013: donut and Eclair, no longer in the charts

Google has stopped information instrument distribution on Android version 1.6 donut and Eclair 2.1 as the two not the Google game store app support. Since the developers care above all the phones that support this, Google is no longer post these supposedly irrelevant numbers. Last month the two iterations of Android accounted for only 1.3% of the total platform customer base so it is no big loss anyway.

Google shows now devices that have in the last 7 days, as opposed to 14 as before Ping in the game store.

As always, jelly bean keeps rising (all three sub versions of it) and now accounts for almost half of the distribution of of Android (45.1%) while the most popular versions of gingerbread and ice cream sandwich steadily losing ground. Gingerbread has 30.7% (compared to 33.1% last month), while ICS has 21.7% (down from 22.5% last month).

Sony Xperia Z1 camera samples, fresh from the IFA booth

Sony Xperia Z1 went official yesterday at the IFA in Berlin, and today we have the camera samples directly from our visit to the Sony booth.

First are several examples of the 16:9-the maximum allowed resolution aspect ratio, 8MP camera. You will see some accurate colors and good dynamic range, which is lost, overtime, the sharpness, taking into account the lighting, but the oversharpening filter after you restore the large noise reduction. At 8MP these shots were recalculated from what is essentially a 20MP sensor, so that the noise level photos have certainly benefited.

Sony Xperia Z1-16:9-examples

The same can be not said, turned over our full resolution 4:3 measurement 5248 x 3936 pixel, which uses the entire 20.7MP sensor on the Z1. This is significantly more noise, but keep in mind that the lighting conditions at the Sony booth were pretty bad.

Sony Xperia Z1 20.7MP Camera example

Finally, a quick 1080 p video is here, that we shot. The rather dim light conditions made for trying some repeated auto focusing.

As the interior lighting and the Xperia Z1 may not have finalized software, we are not going too fast in rendering a final judgment in Sony's new flagship.

More info on the Sony Xperia Z1 and its 20.7MP Camera, see our extensive hands on.

Google Nexus 5 escape FCC specifications

After apparently caught a glimpse of Google Nexus 5 during the previous week, the Android champion 4.4 KitKat seems to have gone through the FCC and revealed its key specifications.

With the launch of Android KitKat 4.4 Tuesday, Google has released a video showing the scene outside his headquarters. Here we caught a brief glimpse of a Google employee taking snaps with a mysterious smartphone Nexus that do not match at all anything we had seen before.

He also appeared to confirm that the Google Nexus 5 are made by LG. That makes it a recent FCC filing for a new stand of high-end smartphone from LG out some more.

The D820 LG, as is shown in the store, sports a decidedly backshell Nexus-ish, but it's the blurb that accompanies these shots are more interested technicians.

From it we can ascertain that the Google Nexus 5 will run on a CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon, 800 of which seems to be the quad-core processor for high-end Android phones today.

We also know that it will sport a 5-inch display, as well as 4 g LTE (that don't make it into Nexus 4) next to the usual network and connectivity options. Interestingly, also, wireless charging feature, which is something that really has not appeared in a major outside of smartphone Nokia Lumia 920.

It is also confirmed that the Google Nexus 5 will run on Android's Key Lime Pie, ' which provides further confirmation that the whole idea of naming KitKat was rather late in the day for Google.

Recensione Samsung Galaxy nota 3

The Samsung Galaxy 3 note is the third iteration of the phone that sparked the revolution ' phablet '. Many suitors of the silver screen came and went, but the Galaxy 3 Note which is the most coveted of the large smartphone, although Sony is trying to do something with the Xperia Z Ultra.

Samsung has increased the size of the screen on the Galaxy 3 Note by 0.2 inches. Its screen is 5.7 inches across. Just like with the Samsung Galaxy S4, however, Samsung has managed to cram the screen in a body more or less the same size as its predecessor-note 2 in this case.

Samsung is trying to change the perception of the series note by a brilliant device to a fashion accessory. Let's see how it gets.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 3

As expected, Samsung has not deviated from the S4 Galaxy design and styling-apart from one very notable exception.

The rear of Galaxy 3 Note off just like any other phone Galaxy, but is made of a skin-like material with the texture. It is soft to the touch and feels more premium than the shiny plastic found on many other Galaxy devices.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 4
Also give a faint whiff of a grandfather's phone, though. To combat this Samsung offers the note 3 in pink as well as black and white and you can further customize with a colorful flip case-available in reams of nuances.

Is such an unusual material for a phone that it just might take some getting used to.

In all other respects the Samsung Galaxy 3 Note matches the range of Galaxy phones and tablets, a tee.

Easy to remove back cover provides access to the removable battery and SIM/microSD card slot, while a band of silver-painted plastic okay the whole phone. Just like the Galaxy S4.

Digitising S Pen posted well at the bottom right of the phone when not in use.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 13

It's still a bit plasticky and feels somewhat off the build quality of Xperia Z Ultra, but the pen S is a different proposition for most other phones.

Footnote 3 is actually smaller than its predecessor. The known Galaxy is 3 x 79.2 151.2 x 8.3 mm. Is a small fraction of higher than 1.3 mm 2 note but narrower and a full 1.1 mm thinner. It is very impressive because the screen is very little bigger.

What is even more impressive is how light it is. Only 168g. That's 15 g lighter than the note 2.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 8
Samsung doesn't have exaggerated and added a huge screen, as it has done with the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 behemoth. This makes the phone a lot more hand-friendly to use and allows you to easily in one hand while using the pen's in another.

The known Galaxy 3 now comes with glorious full HD, 720 p rather than the resolultion used in note 2. Not only that, it also uses the Super AMOLED Panel technology, just like the S4.

There is a distinct difference between the screen quality of note 3 and its predecessor. The colors are more vivid, black people are much deeper and better contrast, particularly evident in the shadow detail of dark video.Samsung Galaxy Note 3 9

The 386 pixels per inch (PPI) pixel density makes text look pin-sharp, even when writing, watching the little totally out on a Web page. The viewing angles are also very good.

Just like the S4, the known Galaxy 3 comes in two versions – quad-and octa-core. And just like the S4 is likely Europe and United States have the quad-core version, while the Exynos chipset Octa 5 will have a limited version in regions without support LTE.

The quad-core version that we are testing here-is powered by Snapdragon Qualcomm processor 800 – currently the fastest processor available smartphones.

Samsung has made a right choice of ditching its Exynos processor 4 g markets? The initial trials, Yes. The Snapdragon chipset 800 is blisteringly fast and note 3 benefits from this speed.Samsung Galaxy Note 3 6

Opening applications and navigation is a breeze when you run side-by-side processes seems to not cause any slowdown whatsoever. Our PC Mark Icestorm Extreme (which tests the performance of the CPU/GPU) saw it score 10,864 benchmark. That is only slightly less we clocked with Xperia Z Ultra.

Is the processor same Xperia Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra pack but with 3 GB instead of 2 GB are Xperias. In addition, the note 3 800 Snapdragon is clocked slightly higher than 2.3 GHz, as opposed to the 2.2 GHz on Sony phones. This makes us think that the performance of the lower bench can be an optimization problem of the pre-release software.

In terms of storage, note 3 will be available in 32 and 64 GB versions. As is the way of Samsung, both versions have the option of microSD expansion up to 64 GB.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is official. It improves upon the previous Note 2 in virtually every way imaginable.

But is it any better than the Samsung Galaxy S4, an Android demigod? We’ve broken it down to see which is really the better phone.

Galaxy S4 – glossy plastic rear, 130g, 7.9mm thick, 70mm wide
Galaxy Note 3 – leather effect rear, 168g, 8.3mm thick, 79mm wide

After years of complaints, Samsung has finally gotten rid of the glossy plastic battery covers used in just about all of its Galaxy-series Android phones. The Samsung Galaxy S4 has one, but the Galaxy Note 3 uses a brand new style of rear.

Note 3 vs 2It’s still a removable cover, but it has a leather-like texture that is much grippier and easier on the fingers than the glossy plastic of old. To give it that handmade look, the back cover also has faux stitching around its edge. It’s like a phone from Etsy, sort of.

As a much larger phone, the Note 3 is predictably a lot wider and heavier than the S4. However, it’s not disastrously so. It’s 9mm wider than the Galaxy S4, and 38g heavier. That makes it a shade lighter than the Note 2, and a smidge slimmer.

Samsung has done this by cleverly reducing the screen bezel so that the Note 3 is almost all-screen. Of course – so is the Galaxy S4. Samsung has had to be a bit more aggressive in the new Note, though, giving it a boxier front profile than the curvy Galaxy S4.

The Note 3 is a little thicker than the Galaxy S4 – 8.3mm against 7.9mm – but we don’t think 0.4mm is worth worrying about too much.

Galaxy S4 – 5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED screen (diamond PenTile)
Galaxy Note 3 – 5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED with digitiser layer

Continuing a long-running trend of top-end Galaxy phones, both the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 use Super AMOLED displays. This kind of screen does not use the universal backlight of LCD, but has light-emitting pixels, letting the dark areas of an image stay super-dark.

Contrast and black levels in both phones are excellent. As is sharpness. Both phones use a 1080p panel.

As the Galaxy S4 has a smaller screen, pixel density is naturally higher – 440ppi to the Note 3’s 386ppi. Does it matter? Not really, as both displays are extremely sharp. We’re looking for clarification on the exact type of sub pixel array the Note 3 uses, but as the Galaxy S4 uses a diamond-shaped PenTile array, the Note 3 could potentially be even sharper in person.

Note 3 vsFor tasks like watching videos, browsing the web or playing games, the extra screen space of the Note 3 makes it the better display. It really is luxuriously large.

It is also more advanced. It packs in an extra digitiser layer that the Galaxy S4 lacks. This is what enables the S Pen stylus functionality you get with a Note phone.

It’s a Wacom digitiser than can sense varying levels of pressure applied by the S Pen, which slots into the bottom edge of the Note 3. The capacitive screen of the Galaxy S4 cannot sense varying levels of pressure.

Galaxy S4 – Android 4.2 with TouchWiz
Galaxy Note 3 – Android 4.3 with TouchWiz and stylus implementation

Samsung has packed a load of stylus S Pen enhancements into the Note 3, but otherwise it uses a very similar software suite to the Galaxy S4. It uses Android as its base, and lays the TouchWiz user interface on top.

TouchWiz offers a bright and breezy look, and adds zillions of features to Android. Some might say it offers too many.

For a closer look at some of them, read our 10 new TouchWiz features article

There are some differences, though. The Galaxy Note 3 uses Android 4.3 as its base where the Galaxy S4 is stuck with Android 4.2. You can bet it’ll get the bump-up in time, but for now the Note 3 is slightly more up-to-date.

Android 4.3 improves the basic security of the Android system, brings a number of performance optimisations and lets you resize widgets freely. It’s no huge loss though as it’s TouchWiz, rather than Android, that generally determines what a Galaxy-series phone feels like to use.

Galaxy S4 – No digitiser, no stylus
Galaxy Note 3 – S Pen, 1,024 pressure levels (TBC)

Here’s the biggie – to S Pen or not to S Pen? The Galaxy S4 does not have an S Pen, and will not work with one if even if you buy one separately. It just doesn’t have the hardware to support it.

The S Pen is a digitiser stylus that ‘talks to’ a special layer in the Note 3’s screen. It can sense the pen before it even touches the display, can determine how hard you’re pressing on the screen and gives a very realistic hand-drawing/writing experience.

Samsung has reworked the software of the S Pen too, using something called Air Command. This is not a military thing, but a little circular nav bar that pops-up on-screen when you press a button on the S Pen stylus. It gives you access to all the most common S Pen apps, as well as some core features like the phone search.

We love the S Pen. You might not use it a great deal, but it’s a worthwhile feature and is a rare example of Samsung adding something to a phone that really adds something to the experience.

Galaxy S4 – Quad-core 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600, 2GB RAM
Galaxy Note 3 – Quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800, 3GB RAM

Note 3 vs 1There’s a generational divide between the Galaxy S4 and the Note 3 in terms of power – one uses the Snapdragon 600, the other a newer Snapdragon 800 chip. Benchmarks show that the Snapdragon 800 is significantly more powerful, in part down to the supercharged 2.3GHz clock speed of the Note 3.

It’s not just the clock speed, though. Snapdragon 800 uses updated Krait 400 cores, as opposed to the Krait 300 cores of the Galaxy S4’s Snapdragon 600. The GPU has been updated too, from an Adreno 320 to an Adreno 330. But what do all these numbers really mean?

Without delving into the specs, the new CPU/GPU cores offer an incremental speed increase that means the Note 3 will comfortably outperform the UK version of the Galaxy S4. However, it’s a close-run thing between the Note 3 and the Octa-core version of the Galaxy S4 seen in some other parts of the world.

We’ll wait to perform our own benchmarks before coming to any firm conclusions.

Galaxy S4 – 16/32/64GB (mostly 16GB in UK), microSD
Galaxy Note 3 – 32/64GB, microSD

As with just about every Galaxy-series phone, both the Galaxy S4 and the Note 3 have a microSD memory card, letting you add to their internal memory easily and cheaply. microSD cards are dirt cheap these days.

Where the lowest-end model of the Galaxy S4 has 16GB of internal memory, the Note 3 starts out at 32GB. This is likely to help soften the blow of quite how expensive it’ll be. Looking at its specs, we can’t imagine it’ll sell for much less than £600 on day one.

Both phones max-out at 64GB internal storage, however the 64GB Galaxy S4 is not widely available in the UK. In the same vein, it’s likely that the 32GB edition of the Note 3 will be the most common one on shelves.

Galaxy S4 – 13-megapixel sensor with LED flash, 2-megapixel front camera
Galaxy Note 3 – 13-megapixel sensor with LED flash, 2-megapixel front camera, 4K video capture

One area where the Galaxy S4 and Note 3 are almost level-pegging is camera tech. They have 13-megapixel cameras, seemingly using the same Sony-made sensor. Both also have an LED flash and 2-megapixel front cameras.

They’re near-identical. However, there is one software bonus that the Note 3 can brag about. It can capture video in 4K resolution from its main 13-megapixel camera - the Galaxy S4 is stuck with 1080p.

We imagine this is a feature that could be implemented in the Galaxy S4 through a software update, unless it really needs the extra power of the Snapdragon 800 chip and its extra 1GB of system RAM. We’re not convinced it would.

Image quality of both cameras in good lighting should be excellent – the Samsung Galaxy S4 can produce some cracking shots. However, as their sensors are pretty teeny, neither is going to be too great at low-light photography.

Galaxy S4 – 2,600mAh battery
Galaxy Note 3 – 3,200mAh battery

A larger screen needs a larger battery – and that’s just what the Note 3 has. It has a 3,200mAh battery, 100mAh higher-capacity than the battery of the Galaxy Note 2.

The Galaxy S4 has a 2,600mAh battery, which is roughly in-line with what we’d expect from a phone that’s 0.7 inches smaller. However, we were impressed with the battery stamina of the Note 2, so perhaps its successor will do the same.

We’ll be back with more battery comparisons once we’ve had some more time to play with the new Galaxy Note 3.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 may be a conservative upgrade in some respects, but technologically it’s easily the most impressive phone in the Galaxy line-up. It makes the Galaxy S4 look a little past-it.

Is it a sign of what’s to come in the Galaxy S5?  Not really, as we expect further tech innovations in that phone. However, the Note 3 is a cracking device that deserves a lot of attention if the idea of a digitiser stylus appeals.

LG D820 certified by the FCC, the nexus-5 may

It's almost time for a new Nexus phone and despite speculation, that Motorola could make the nexus-5, LG has the "D820" filed for FCC certification of a device, which just might be it.

The docs show photos from the back of the wireless charging coil specially and they show the characteristic oversized circular hole for the camera lens, the same as that on the device discovered statue at the Android KitKat revelation.

The docs also give some of the dimensions of the device 131,9 x 68,2 mm and the diagonal of the screen - 126mm or a hair under 5 "." This doesn t that a LG manufactured nexus 5 on the LG-G2 are based would bode well for the rumors (the G2 has a 5.2-inch screen).

The firmware for the tests used is recorded as M8974A-0.0.19.0.0.1. This is relevant, because MS8974A is a Snapdragon-800 chipset. There is also a reference to the Aosp_hammerhead - user debugKyeLimePieFACTORYeng.sangjoon84.lee. 20130618.015154 (Yes, with the typo). The iPhone 5S release date is now just days away as Apple confirms its next-generation flagship phone will be formally unveiled on September 10.

With a raft of iPhone 5S rumours having done the rounds in recent week and the phone making a number of premature appearances, invites to a September 10 unveiling have now revealed the iPhone 5S really is on its way. What's more, it is expected that the 5S will be unveiled alongside an all new, budget iPhone 5C.

Here's all you need to know about the iPhone 5S ahead of the phone's official unveiling.

Apple invite

After months of speculation, Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 5S will be launched on 10 September, next Tuesday. While official invites have confirmed the phone will make an appearance at the company's Cupertino HQ in California, Apple's next flagship phone will reportedly hit retailers just days later. An iPhone 5S release date has been teased as September 20, 10 days after its unveiling.

The news was originally broken by iMore, before being backed-up by the usually-reliable 9to5Mac and TechCrunch. 9to5Mac spoke to a source who has apparently used the device, suggesting it may be someone within Apple.

Apple’s mobile devices are usually available to buy within two weeks of their launches. Our bet is that the iPhone 5S will be available on Friday 20 September. This will make it the exact mirror of the iPhone 5’s launch – which went on sale on Friday 21 September 2013.

The most-leaked new feature of recent weeks is a new gold finish. This is the first time we’ve seen a genuinely new shade of iPhone since the first white model – the white iPhone 4 back in 2011.

If you’re imagining gaudy bling, rest assured that it’ll probably look pretty good in the flesh. Leaked photos suggest the gold iPhone 5S will have a light ‘champagne’ finish rather than a vivid gold colour.

iMore’s quick Photoshop job of the finish gives you a good idea of what to expect. iPhone 5S

Don’t like it? There are no signs of Apple dropping the black and white finishes currently available. It’s also rumoured that the gold iPhone 5S will only come in a ‘premium’ 128GB edition, which seems a shame as it’ll probably cost upwards of £700.
Earlier this year, it was rumoured that the iPhone 5S will feature a fingerprint scanner as a method of identification. Although initially dismissed by many as an unlikely addition, unearthed iOS 7 code suggests it might actually exist.

The fingerprint reader – if real – will be built into the home button, letting it slide into the phone without forcing any drastic changes in the phone’s design.

The code suggests the iPhone 5S will ask you to scan your right thumb during the setup process, which will them be used to identify you – presumably cutting down the passwords and such you’ll have to enter. iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner

It could also be used to load discrete user profiles, which would be particularly useful for iPhones that’ll be used by kids as well as adults. Nice idea, Apple. If it works, that is.

History suggests the iPhone 5S will have roughly the same design as the iPhone 5. The iPhone 3GS looked a lot like the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 4S was the dead spit of the iPhone 4. Isn’t it a bit soon for a full iPhone redesign?

Some sources do not agree. Commmercial Times suggests the iPhone 5S will have a 4.3-inch screen – 0.3 inches up from the iPhone 5. However, there are plenty of conflicting rumours that suggest Apple will stick with the 4-inch form.
iPhone 5S
For example, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the iPhone 5S’s design will be near-identical to the current model.

Apple will give the iPhone 5S a proper camera refresh this year, having barely updated the camera in the iPhone 5.

The phone is expected to feature a 12-megapixel camera, suggesting it’ll have a different sensor from the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z, both of which use a 13-megapixel Sony sensor. That’s four megapixels greater than the 8-megapixel sensors used in both the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.

Just as important, the iPhone 5S will also have an improved lens and a more powerful flash. KGI Securities writes that the phone will have an f/2.0 lens, significantly faster than the f/2.4 lens used in the current model. The flash will also be bumped up from the single-LED type to dual-LED. This should help give the flash more even coverage, which is crucial when taking low-light shots with a flash.

However, come release day the most noticeable change for most people will be the shift from iOS 6 to iOS 7 and its new camera app. iOS 7’s camera interface offers far more features than the stripped-back app of iOS 6.

New additions include active filters for Instagram-style effects. You can also take square photos – perfect for Facebook profile portraits.

The iPhone 5 has a dual-core 1.3GHz processor. Next to the quad-core Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One that doesn’t sound too powerful.

Apple is taking a different approach to its Android rivals, though. The iPhone 5S will move from a 32-bit ARMv7 architecture to 64-bit ARMv8 architecture – it’s Apple’s main move in the upgrade from an Apple A6 chip (as seen in the iPhone 5) to the Apple A7 type, used here.

KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that it’ll be 20 per cent more efficient than the current Apple A6 chipset. However, there have been relatively few suggestions that the iPhone 5S will actually move to a quad-core chipset. Where we might have expected a consensus on quad-core chip, many suggest the iPhone 5S will have a dual-core CPU. The jury is out.

Most agree that the GPU will get an upgrade from a tri-core PowerVR model to a quad-core one, though.

Apple is not going to radically alter the screen size and screen resolution of the iPhone series in the iPhone 5S. The phone will have a 4-inch 1,136 x 640 pixel display, just like the current iPhone.

However, Apple is expected to change the type of screen it uses. Rather than a standard IPS screen, the iPhone 5 will use an IGZO display, a screen type made by Sharp.

IGZO is designed to be more power-efficient than IPS, while retaining great image quality and the good viewing angles expected of an iPhone. The screen array is also thinner than IPS.

One of the big questions is - will there be a 128GB iPhone? The only Apple mobile device to get a 128GB edition so far is the full-size iPad.

Of course, in a larger device like that, there's much less of a technological challenge. To get a NAND array small enough to fit into the (doubtless) super-slim iPhone 5S will require much greater miniaturisation.

Sandisk told us earlier this year that it was working on its own tech to make 128GB phones possible. But will it be ready for September?

Some believe so, having suggested Apple will release a 'premium' gold edition of the phone with 128GB storage.

Leaked photos that show what appears to be the iPhone 5S with its rear casing removed, revealing a 5.92Whr unit. This is just a little more powerful than the 5.45Whr battery of the iPhone 5, but if coupled with the power saving features of an IGZO screen then battery life could be substantially improved.

It’s a spec that supports the idea that the iPhone 5S will have the same screen size as the current model.

Early Impressions
The iPhone 5S is likely to be an important, but hardly earth-shattering upgrade to the iPhone 5. Improvements to most elements, including camera and CPU are likely.
