Sony Xperia Z1 mini goes through FFC with new codename Amami

Sony Xperia Mini Z1 heavily said she was sighted gaining FCC certification and is due to launch in Europe early next year.

Formerly known as the Z1s, Sony Xperia mini Xperia Z1 is now under a new name – Amami.

Sony has already released a mini Xperia Xperia Z1 in the form of Z1f, but only for the Japanese market. This smaller version of the Sony Xperia Z1 is presumably destined to other markets around the world in the new year.

The FFC certification tips that Sony Xperia Z1 mini will launch with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, rather than the latest Android OS by KitKat 4.4 present in devices such as the Google Nexus 5.

Other manufacturers of smartphones have already launched their miniature versions of flagship smartphones, such as the S4 of Samsung Galaxy mini and HTC is mini, but they have not proved popular with consumers, like their counterparts beefier.

However, it seems that Sony is taking a slightly different tack with the Sony Xperia mini Z1 bound for coastlines.

Unlike other flagships mini, mini Z1 should appear the same processor as the powerful Xperia Z1. This means that the Z1 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 2.2 GHz 800 with 2 GB of RAM and a GPU to Adreno 330.

The Z1 should also keep the rear 20.7 megapixels on Z1 with 80, 27 mm wide angle lens and digital zoom. This camera back also has the Exmor CMOS sensor 1/2.3 inch RS and Bionz image processing engine.

The biggest difference between the two will obviously smartphone screen size. The Z1 is said to have a 4.3-inch display, compared to the flagship Xperia Sony Z1.

Sony is heavily anticipated to unveil the mini Xperia Z1 at CES during his press conference on January 6.

8.3 G Pad of LG and Sony Xperia Z Ultra join Google roster Play Edition

Google has added two new devices to its collector's Edition play Google, meaning that the LG G 8.3 and Pad the Sony Xperia Z Ultra are now available with stock Android. Earlier in the year, Google has worked with manufacturers to produce versions of the best Android device with all the custom UI elements stripped. This resulted in the HTC Google Plays One Edition and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition. Now Google has added two new devices to the initiative of the G 8.3 Pad LG and Sony Xperia Z Ultra. the LG G 8.3 Pad is, as you might imagine, a 8.3-inch tablet with a Full HD display. This is a pretty unique feature right there in an Android market dominated by 7-inchers. The title also means 8.3 that is just 8.3 mm thick, which is pretty neat or a lucky coincidence. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra, for its part, is more phablet than a tablet. Comes with a 6.44 inches Full HD and a top-of-the-range 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU 800.  We were impressed by her screen colorful, distinctive design and impressive performance when we took the normal pattern for a couple of months ago. Of course, both devices must be considerably improved ditching the bulge and adopting of pure, unadulterated OS Google Android 4.4 KitKat. The only problem here: like the HTC and the Samsung Galaxy S4 models before them, neither device will be available outside the United States.  Still, if you want to bring home from a Christmas shopping trip to New York, the LG G 8.3 Google Pad Play Edition costs $ 349 and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition costs $ 649. Sony Xperia M Phone Review

You don't get the 20.7-megapixel camera or HD screen of those phones, but for £180 what you do get are some pretty decent specs.

The Xperia M also manages to adopt some of the sleek design traits from its more expensive Xperia compatriots to make it a great cheap Android phone.

It's no real surprise that the glass front and back panels on the high end Xperia phones have been swapped for a matte plastic body in the Xperia M. It's closer in look and size to the Xperia L. But the arched back is more subtle on the M it doesn't have the bottom edge jutting out like the Xperia L, used in that phone to accommodate the notification light bar.

If you are planning to take this for a swim or in the bath, you will be sadly disappointed to find out that it's not waterproof like the Z and Z1.

Available in black, white, purple and yellow, the Sony Xperia M incorporates Sony's OmniBalance design giving it an evenly weighted feel in the hand whether you are holding it in portrait or landscape. The bezel is thicker above and below the display and slimmer at the edges to give it a movie-friendly 16:9 screen ratio. 

With its 4-inch display and 124mm height, it feels very similar to the iPhone 5S in the hand. At 9.3mm thick it’s not as slender as Apple's smartphone, but at 115g weighs just 3g more.

On the Xperia X's edge is an aluminium on/off button and standard volume rocker,  next to a dedicated camera button. The microUSB charging port is over on the opposite side of the handset and the good news is the back is removable (from the bottom of the handset) hiding away the battery, micro SIM and microSD card slot.The customisable notification light bar at the bottom of the phone is still present but it's been merged closer into the body to keep things nice and trim.

It’s got a nicer more comfortable feel in the hand compared to the Xperia L and while it lacks some of the more premium design qualities of the Xperia Z and Z1 it’s still a well-built, good looking smartphone. 

With a 4-inch TFT 854x480 screen resolution the Xperia M sits around the two year-old Samsung Galaxy S2 in terms of quality. There's no Trilluminos or X-Reality Bravia engine to give you TV-quality picture and it struggles to deliver the same, vibrant colours as Samsung’s AMOLED display. The 245 ppi pixel density means it's never going to give you Retina-like clarity, but for reading web pages, text is nice and clear. For brightness and colour range, it performs pretty well for a low-end Android phone even if it lacks the sharpness to make it a really great screen.

As can be the case with TFT displays, the Xperia M struggles for visibility when you are outdoors and in bright sunlight. The viewing angles also really suffer resulting in colours looking extremely washed out. 

Similarly priced phones like the Nokia Lumia 520 and the bigger Nokia Lumia 625 are also let down in the screen department. The screen is one of the Xperia M's weakest attributes but for general browsing, watching the odd movie and gaming, it will do the job just fine.

While the Xperia M largely can disappoint on the viewing front, we can have no real complaints about the screen responsiveness. The 4-point multi-touch display reacts well to swiping through homescreens, opening apps and scrolling through settings.

Sony Xperia Z1 Android 4.4 update confirmed alongside additional handsets

Sony has confirmed the Sony Xperia Z1 will be getting an Android 4.4 KitKat update, along with a host of other handsets.

A week after Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat, Sony has revealed its upgrade plans for the Xperia Z1 and other high-end handsets.

The Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 will all be getting the Android KitKat update, but Sony hasn’t yet outlined any time-frames.

The Japanese electronics manufacturer did say that the aforementioned devices will make up “the first raft” of updates, suggesting that more devices will be upgraded to KitKat in the future.

Sony also revealed that a number of handsets would also be getting an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update “from next month”.

These are: the Xperia T, Xperia TX, Xperia V, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra and the Xperia Z1.

HTC has also confirmed its plans for Android 4.4 updates, with unlocked HTC One handsets getting the latest Android edition within 30 days of Google’s announcement. Network locked versions will get Android KitKat within 90 days.

Android 4.4 KitKat Features
Launched alongside the Nexus 5, Android 4.4 KitKat introduces a load of minor changes over Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, rather than a huge UI overhaul.

When on the Google Now screen or home screen, you can now say “OK Google” to launch voice search, send texts or access other smartphone features.

Google has also slimmed down the memory footprint of Android KitKat so that it only requires 512MB of RAM to run, making it more compatible with lower-end, budget handsets. Memory optimisation has also increased multitasking capability in KitKat.

There’s a new Hangouts app in KitKat too, which replaces the original messages app. It collates all messages from a single contact in one conversation – regardless of whether it’s an email, SMS, MMS or other chat format.

Sony Xperia Z1 prices are on the Web: $730, 650, £564

Prices for the new Sony Xperia Z1 captures are displayed online. Clove UK has the flagship at 564 (incl. VAT) and finds that the first share is expected on January 16. The old Xperia-Z 450 is compared.

Negri Electronics has the Xperia Z1 for the price of $730 and get it in stock a few days later, on May 20.

The press release by Erman has 650 prices for ZZ1 and miscellaneous other accessories costs the flagship Android phone, the availability is a vague "Q3". Unfortunately we have couldn t find in any German stores yet.

Sony Xperia Z1 camera samples, fresh from the IFA booth

Sony Xperia Z1 went official yesterday at the IFA in Berlin, and today we have the camera samples directly from our visit to the Sony booth.

First are several examples of the 16:9-the maximum allowed resolution aspect ratio, 8MP camera. You will see some accurate colors and good dynamic range, which is lost, overtime, the sharpness, taking into account the lighting, but the oversharpening filter after you restore the large noise reduction. At 8MP these shots were recalculated from what is essentially a 20MP sensor, so that the noise level photos have certainly benefited.

The same can be not said, turned over our full resolution 4:3 measurement 5248 x 3936 pixel, which uses the entire 20.7MP sensor on the Z1. This is significantly more noise, but keep in mind that the lighting conditions at the Sony booth were pretty bad.

Finally, a quick 1080 p video is here, that we shot. The rather dim light conditions made for trying some repeated auto focusing.

As the interior lighting and the Xperia Z1 may not have finalized software, we are not going too fast in rendering a final judgment in Sony's new flagship.

Sony presents Xperia Z1 (Iizuka), QX-lens style cameras

Sony officially unveiled the hotly anticipated Xperia Z1, which has become known among the internal PetName Iizuka. The Z1's friends on the stage brought the QX's line of lens style cameras and a range of other accessories.

The Z1 is undoubtedly the star of the show, the dimensions of only 8.5 mm thick, the Xperia Z1 is home to a large 1/2.3 "sensor, which is about 70% larger than the sensors on most mobile phones and Sony achieved it without a hump on the back like most other phones with large sensors.

The camera uses a F / 2.0 Sony G lens, a Sony Exmor sensor RS and a Sony BIONZ image processor all Sony tech.

QX100 and QX10 can work separately from the phone and also streaming on the viewfinder, allowing tight framing to make a child's play.

Sony launched the Xperia Z last year. After years of playing second fiddle to Apple, Samsung, HTC and Nokia, and finally produced a flagship smartphone that could compete with the best. Stylish and good-looking, with a solid camera and full HD screen also had a USP – you could easily dunk in water. Z's successor is the Sony Xperia Z1, codename Honami, and, on first impression, at least, is the phone that was supposed to be the Sony Xperia Z.

Sony decided to use a frame-aluminium machined to merge together the front and rear glass panels. Is a bold design statement and one that exudes quality. It's a bit reminiscent of the iPhone 4 's design but Sony has managed to craft the chassis and the antenna, using a single piece of metal as opposed to the sections together. Not only is an impressive engineering achievement, it also helps provide strength and rigidity to the Xperia Z1.

This is a solid piece of kit.

Machined aluminum frame makes the Xperia Z1 solid feel

the Xperia Z wasn't exactly a small phone but the Xperia Z1 is even bigger. Where the likes of Samsung, Apple and HTC tries to keep their flagship phones as possible finishes, Sony has increased the size of the Z1, while keeping the same screen size.

Keep the phone and the weight difference and feel from its predecessor is dramatic. Where the Xperia Z was all sharp ridges and plastic corners Xperia Z1 is everything well balanced, soft, curvy metal. Yes, it's bigger, but the Xperia Z1 is a much more comfortable to hold and use for long periods of time.

A narrow band of plastic joins the frame for glass panels at the front and rear. The design makes it less de Garang as the iPhone 5 or a HTC, especially as the lunette between the screen and the frame are on the big side. On the other hand the Xperia Z1 is overly plastic roads Samsung Galaxy S4 and feels much more solid than that tussocks of iPhone 5.

The right hand of the phone has a SIM slot at the top, the power button and the volume rocker just below and a dedicated camera button. On the other hand you get microSD card slot and microUSB socket as a wireless charging point.

All sides are covered with flaps that help to maintain the water resistance of Xperia Z1. It is not too much of a problem for microSD and SIM slot, but could be a bit of a pain fiddling with it whenever you want to charge the phone, which makes charging points out a useful feature. The charging dock is sold separately at around £ 40, however.

The 3.5 mm headphone jack sits on the top edge of the Xperia Z1. Sony has managed to keep this bare socket still water resistant, making it easier to add and remove the headphones without having to worry about the water making its way to your phone. Is a nice touch and one that will appeal to people who love listening to music in the bathroom or on the beach, but is worried about water damage.

Is there a speaker grille at the bottom of the phone, while one of the corners has a hole drilled through it to add a wrist strap.

Flip the Z1 and you will find the logos of Sony Xperia and tastefully subtle peeping from behind the glass, while the camera and LED flash are on the top left, but more on the camera later.

Sony has kept faith with the 5-inch screen and full HD 1080 resolution, but added its Triluminos technology and X-reality TV to broaden the palette of colors red meaning skin tones Look richer and more accurate.

If we cut through the jargon what we have is actually a screen looks sharp and accurate color reproduction. Viewing angles remain though. Just like the Z before it, the Xperia Z1 has a plastic screen protector covers the screen glass. Quite why Sony insists owners should have this we're not sure, but we'd like to leave Sony owners decide if they want to cover that gorgeous screen or not. The screen protector screen blurs a bit and makes it feel less silky controls than on competing phones.

Purple and white versions of Xperia Z1

We will let you know when we test the complete device if the screen is better than the Super AMOLED screen on the Galaxy S4, but in a few hours that we spent with the Z1 we felt that wasn't quite on par with the flagship of Samsung.

Xperia Z1 has the same processor as the huge Xperia Z Ultra – a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon running at 800 a stonking 2.2 GHz with 330 Adreno graphics.

It is currently the fastest smartphone processor and when we tested the Z Ultra we managed to get an impressive 11,896 in ice storm extreme 3D Mark, a benchmarking tests that measure processor performance. That is almost twice as fast as the Galaxy S4.

The 800 Snapdragon is paired with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, although this can be expanded using microSD card up to 64 GB. Only about 12 GB of internal memory is available for use, though.

In practice the Xperia Z1 felt very snappy running Android 4.2.2. Opening apps and scroll the menu was slick and open camera app quickly and was extremely responsive. Sony Z1 is planning to upgrade to 4.3 Android, but this is unlikely to happen before the release.

If the increases efficiency touted for the Snapdragon processor is accurate that 800 Xperia Z1 can even last more than a couple of days on a single charge.

Sony Xperia Z1 confirmed as 20.7 MP camera smartphone

Sony has officially unveiled its 20.7-megapixel camera smartphone during his pre-IFA press conference, Sony Xperia Z1.
Putting together a 1/2.3-megapixel CMOS sensor 20.7 RS Emor and BIONZ image processing engine, the Sony Xperia Z1 still maintains a slim profile, unlike the Samsung Galaxy S4 camera centric.
Formerly known as the Sony Xperia i1 ' Honami, the smartphone has been given an official launch today at the IFA press event, September 4.

"Xperia Z1 represents a milestone for Sony in our continuing efforts to offer an unforgettable experience for our consumers," said Kunimasa Suzuki, President and CEO of Sony Mobile Communications. "Not only to bring the power of Sony for your smartphone and through close collaboration with our partners, but by setting a new standard in premium smartphone".
Sony Xperia Z1 features
The centerpiece of the Sony Xperia Z1 is the camera back. Incorporating a goal G Sony Exmor CMOS sensor, RS 20.7-megapixel 1/2.3 inches and Bionz image processing engine, the Sony Xperia Z1 CRAM a lot of tech camera in a smartphone.
A f 27 mm wide angle lens and 2.0, the rear camera also offers 3 x digital zoom, which Sony says when coupled with high shutter speed allows the shots to remain clear even from a distance.
There is a new feature of all synchronization with Xperia Z1, which allows users to auto-load all their pictures and videos for Online without PlayMemories cloud storage limits.
Apart from the specific camera, the Sony Xperia Z1 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 2.2 GHz 800 with 2 GB of RAM and a hearty 3000mAh battery.
Coming complete with 4 g LTE connectivity, Xperia Z1 has IP55 and IP58 dust and water resistant to keep it future-proof.
The Sony Xperia Z1 has a 5 inch Triluminos Full HD and includes the same resolution technology X-Reality as the Xperia Z.
Memory cards support up to 64 GB via microSD card slot, there's 16 GB of internal memory.
Sony also offers a two-month trial of its unlimited streaming music service through the Sony entertainment network with Xperia Z1.

The Sony Xperia Z1 will be available worldwide in September, in purple, black and white. Pricing details have yet to be announced.

Sony Xperia Xperia vs Z Z1-what is the difference?

Sony has just announced the Xperia Z1, the phone that has been long-rumored to be called the Honami. It is the successor to Xperia Z, but is the best? Let's take a look.

the Xperia Z1 sells Z plastic to metal
Perhaps our favorite design change Xperia Z1 is that plastic parts inside and outside of Xperia Z were replaced by metal.

The glass front and rear panels used in Xperia Z are still here, but the skeleton of metal makes the Xperia Z1 feel like a phone much flashier, more strong. This care of one of our initial complaints about the original Z – that doesn't feel all that expensive, despite all the glass on display.

And maintains the weatherproofing IP57
The basic design of high-end Xperias hasn't changed, though. Xperia Z is Z1 use rubber-sealed panels that cover the phone ports to stop the water from getting into the phone inside.

Both phones are classified according to IP57, means that you are protected from dust and can be immersed in water without dying. In particular, they can be dunked in 1 m of water for 30 minutes.

But the Xperia Z is lighter and thinner
Better build quality and a high-end feel are important, but there is a bit of a trade-off. the Xperia Z1 is a bit heavier and thicker than the Xperia Z.

The latest phone is 8.3 mm thick. It's just a chubby, but squared design Xperia Xperia's Z1 and Z show the difference, where curvy phones can hide their bumps more easily.

And the Xperia Z1 has a very high capacity battery
The extra girth Xperia Z1 is not just down to the use of aluminium as opposed to plastic. It also has a much larger battery.

the Xperia has a 2 Z, Z1 a 330mAh, Xperia 3, 000mAh units. Since both phones have 1080 p screens from 5 inches, this should result in much better resistance to the new phone.

Is a much needed improvement too, as poor battery life is a real concern with the Xperia Z.

the Xperia Z1 has a better camera, very, very
One of the improvements the team trusted Favorites in Xperia Z1 is its improved camera. In terms of megapixels, there's a huge jump from 12 megapixels on a whopping 20. However, this is not the exciting bit.

What is worth bragging about on Sony's part is the use of a 1/2.3-inch sensor. This is the same size as a lot of compact cameras, not to mention the camera-centric cameras Samsung Galaxy. We expect low-light performance to be a good deal better Xperia z. and even in good lighting will be able to make much more in detail. In theory at least.

And the Xperia Z has an upgraded processor
An update more predictable is the processor speed. the Xperia Z has a Snapdragon chip S4 Pro, where the Xperia Z1 uses the Snapdragon chipset 800 much more recently.

It's quad-core chip, but both the velocity and power for each core clock is much better in Xperia Z1. The Snapdragon's 4 uses baseline Krait core clocked at 1.5 GHz Snapdragon chipset, while the Xperia's 800 Z1 uses the most advanced 400 Krait core clocked at 2.3 GHz.

There's really no contest and – just as important – the Xperia Z1 has a better GPU, using the chip Adreno 330, rather than the 320 Adreno one. Is a slightly faster processor.

Verdict

The Sony Xperia Z1 trades away some of the things that Sony boasted so much when the original launched Xperia Z.  No longer shockingly thin or lightweight, but in many other respects is a much better phone. Looks and feels more expensive camera hardware is really impressive and the processor was upgraded to the type used by the new Xperia Z Ultra. You probably saw this coming – but it is the phone Xperia Z really should have been.

Sony Xperia Z1 – top 10 new features, and should you care?

Sony has just unveiled the Xperia Z1. Is the company's new Android flaghip, a phone that must compete with the S4 and Samsung Galaxy – one day – S5 Galaxy. But has a moustache?

We've reviewed the top 10 telephone functions to evaluate if any of them are really worth getting excited about.

1. aluminum Frame
the Xperia Z1 has an aluminum frame, rather than plastic, as seen in Z Xperia. As such, it feels very studious than its predecessor.

Should importarmi? Yes, the Xperia is feeling a little junk in my hand. The Z1 doesn't.

2. TimeShift camera
In this mode, the camera takes two pictures 61 seconds. As such, it is a bit like the HTC One burst mode, the Nokia Lumia 925 and Samsung Galaxy S4. Except with way, way more captured frames. Take them before and after pressing the shutter button, with the idea that you won't lose a moment.

Should importarmi? No more commonly Picture is missed because you couldn't get the camera to focus quickly enough, or you have not made the shot in time. I'm also low-resolution shots, making them totally useless but true picture fans.

3. camera 20.7-megapixel Resolution
I think 13 is a lot for a phone? Think again. Xperia Z1 has a megapixel sensor resolution 20.7 ridiculous exceed Sony 700 £ RX100.

Should importarmi?  No, this phone has a ridiculous number of pixels for the size of the sensor. It is primarily marketing nonsense.

4. sensor size of 1/2.3 inch camera
Much more interesting about the camera Sony Xperia Z1 is the sensor size. Where most camera sensors in phones are about 1/3.2-inch, Z1 has a 1/2.3-inch sensor. Is gigantic? No, but it is the format used by many dedicated compact and much larger than that of most phones.

Should importarmi? Yes, a larger sensor should give low light performance better Xperia Z1 and better overall image quality compared to S4 Galaxy or HTC One.

5. weatherproofing IP57
As the Z of Xperia, Xperia Sony Z1 is certified IP57 standard, which means it can be immersed in water for 30 minutes and is pretty much dust cover. Reaches this standard using rubber flaps for all its ports.

Should importarmi? Yes, but it isn't anything new. Z tablets and Xperia did the same thing.

6. Facebook live stream
One of the more eyebrow-raising features of Xperia Z1 is Facebook live streaming video from the camera of the phone. Can you really ' Truman Show ' your whole life with this thing. Can see the comments from your friends and like how you're recording too.

Should importarmi? No, unless you are 12. No one worth watching a live stream of not using a Z1 to film themselves.

7. Eye info AR
One of the most deceptive of Xperia Z1 is Info. This lets you take a photo of your surroundings and your phone searches to try to identify what you're watching. This includes some smart OCR technology that you will be able to decipher – for example – book covers.

Should importarmi? Yes. Needs to work well, and we don't know if it still does, but this seems useful.

8.3, 000mAh drums
Having a 3, 000mAh battery makes the Xperia Z1 5 inch phone richer than 2013 battery. The HTC One has a 2, battery 3000mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy S4 a battery 600mAh 2. Is fixed, but it's definitely great.

Should importarmi?Absolutely, a giant battery should – fingers crossed – means that you'll be able to get two days off the thing with some careful management of the battery.

9. PlayMemories
PlayMemories is a cloud storage solution for your photos. It is very similar to SkyDrive, Microsoft service that does exactly the same thing for Windows Mobile Phone. It offers quick and easy photo backup, so you don't have to worry about your snaps.

Should importarmi?Not really. It is not particularly useful as a tool for sharing photos – compared to something like Instagram. And I would bet you don't upload photos at full resolution.
 
10. ' lossless ' zoom 3 x
Sony says its camera offers 3 x zoom with no loss of clarity. This actually means that the thing has so many megapixels and such a generous size sensor can crop in top quality image sensor decreases below the level that will make you your average camera buyer achieve the effect digital zoom.

Should importarmi? Not as such. The effect is nowhere near as to 1020 impessive Lumia. Is the sensor that we should be praising, not ' zoom with no loss of marketing gumpf.

The Sony Xperia Z1 is a perfect blend-genius of 50 per cent, 50 per cent waste. 5/10. However, some of the good bits are pure gold, especially the larger camera sensor and the redesigned phone frame.
