Nexus 5 to get new Google Now smart features in November 13 update?

The Google Nexus 5 could be getting a update full of Google Now smart features on November 13.

Although Google has yet to officially announce the update, but it seems an update download date for a host of new Google Now features has been pencilled in for next week.

According to Wired magazine, Google Now will become smarter with the next update, including being able to offer answers back to you, similar to iOS’ Siri.

The update will also allow Google’s flagship to search apps and launch them in order to perform specific tasks.

There will also be an increased number of Google Now cards, all based on your current location.

It does seem strange that Google didn’t offer these features as standard with Android 4.4 KitKat and the Nexus 5, but it will be interesting to see how much functionality is added with the rumoured November 13 update.

Google Nexus 5 Features
Google has jam packed the Nexus 5 will a load of high-end components, which sees the flagship’s price raised to £299.

It has a 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of Ram and is powered by a 2,300mAh Lithium-Polymer battery.

You have the option of 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, increased from 8GB and 16GB in the Google Nexus 4. As with smartphone alternatives like the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, it does lack microSD card expansion.

The Nexus 5 has a 4.95-inch 1,920 x 1,080p Full HD display with a 445ppi image density. That screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 panel for a little extra protection.

In the rear, the Nexus 5 has an 8-megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation and has an additional front-facing 1.3-megapixel snapper.

As usual, there’s Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G and NFC connectivity.

Sony Xperia Z1 – top 10 new features, and should you care?

Sony has just unveiled the Xperia Z1. Is the company's new Android flaghip, a phone that must compete with the S4 and Samsung Galaxy – one day – S5 Galaxy. But has a moustache?

We've reviewed the top 10 telephone functions to evaluate if any of them are really worth getting excited about.

1. aluminum Frame
the Xperia Z1 has an aluminum frame, rather than plastic, as seen in Z Xperia. As such, it feels very studious than its predecessor.

Should importarmi? Yes, the Xperia is feeling a little junk in my hand. The Z1 doesn't.

2. TimeShift camera
In this mode, the camera takes two pictures 61 seconds. As such, it is a bit like the HTC One burst mode, the Nokia Lumia 925 and Samsung Galaxy S4. Except with way, way more captured frames. Take them before and after pressing the shutter button, with the idea that you won't lose a moment.

Should importarmi? No more commonly Picture is missed because you couldn't get the camera to focus quickly enough, or you have not made the shot in time. I'm also low-resolution shots, making them totally useless but true picture fans.

3. camera 20.7-megapixel Resolution
I think 13 is a lot for a phone? Think again. Xperia Z1 has a megapixel sensor resolution 20.7 ridiculous exceed Sony 700 £ RX100.

Should importarmi?  No, this phone has a ridiculous number of pixels for the size of the sensor. It is primarily marketing nonsense.

4. sensor size of 1/2.3 inch camera
Much more interesting about the camera Sony Xperia Z1 is the sensor size. Where most camera sensors in phones are about 1/3.2-inch, Z1 has a 1/2.3-inch sensor. Is gigantic? No, but it is the format used by many dedicated compact and much larger than that of most phones.

Should importarmi? Yes, a larger sensor should give low light performance better Xperia Z1 and better overall image quality compared to S4 Galaxy or HTC One.

5. weatherproofing IP57
As the Z of Xperia, Xperia Sony Z1 is certified IP57 standard, which means it can be immersed in water for 30 minutes and is pretty much dust cover. Reaches this standard using rubber flaps for all its ports.

Should importarmi? Yes, but it isn't anything new. Z tablets and Xperia did the same thing.

6. Facebook live stream
One of the more eyebrow-raising features of Xperia Z1 is Facebook live streaming video from the camera of the phone. Can you really ' Truman Show ' your whole life with this thing. Can see the comments from your friends and like how you're recording too.

Should importarmi? No, unless you are 12. No one worth watching a live stream of not using a Z1 to film themselves.

7. Eye info AR
One of the most deceptive of Xperia Z1 is Info. This lets you take a photo of your surroundings and your phone searches to try to identify what you're watching. This includes some smart OCR technology that you will be able to decipher – for example – book covers.

Should importarmi? Yes. Needs to work well, and we don't know if it still does, but this seems useful.

8.3, 000mAh drums
Having a 3, 000mAh battery makes the Xperia Z1 5 inch phone richer than 2013 battery. The HTC One has a 2, battery 3000mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy S4 a battery 600mAh 2. Is fixed, but it's definitely great.

Should importarmi?Absolutely, a giant battery should – fingers crossed – means that you'll be able to get two days off the thing with some careful management of the battery.

9. PlayMemories
PlayMemories is a cloud storage solution for your photos. It is very similar to SkyDrive, Microsoft service that does exactly the same thing for Windows Mobile Phone. It offers quick and easy photo backup, so you don't have to worry about your snaps.

Should importarmi?Not really. It is not particularly useful as a tool for sharing photos – compared to something like Instagram. And I would bet you don't upload photos at full resolution.
 
10. ' lossless ' zoom 3 x
Sony says its camera offers 3 x zoom with no loss of clarity. This actually means that the thing has so many megapixels and such a generous size sensor can crop in top quality image sensor decreases below the level that will make you your average camera buyer achieve the effect digital zoom.

Should importarmi? Not as such. The effect is nowhere near as to 1020 impessive Lumia. Is the sensor that we should be praising, not ' zoom with no loss of marketing gumpf.

The Sony Xperia Z1 is a perfect blend-genius of 50 per cent, 50 per cent waste. 5/10. However, some of the good bits are pure gold, especially the larger camera sensor and the redesigned phone frame.
