Ubuntu-edge campaign not be to reach $32 million goal

The ambitious project of the Ubuntu-edge Smartphone has his early death met, at least what is the Indiegogo campaign concerns.

Already in July canonical began a campaign to $32 million in 30 days for the Ubuntu-edge Smartphone, to increase a device with the kind of specifications, the dreams are. The amount funded campaign had a strong start, accumulating more than $2 million in the first eight hours and is to hit a record sum of over $10 million, the highest for a crowd-funded campaign, beat like the Pebble Watch (the one actual product at this time).

But it was obvious even then, never wanted to make the campaign. The days have been few and the final amount was too high and though canonical is managed to raise an impressive amount of money never wanted to achieve, that with the continuously declining interest.

As today the campaign finally has an end, manage the company, $12.8 million, far from the target of $32 million increase. But while the campaign is completed, can the idea does not have. Although the campaign reaches its destination, it has created a lot of enthusiasm about the device and the operating system behind it. Founder of Ubuntu - Mark Shuttleworth - revealed that some large manufacturers to come to discuss the device with him. So it could still be something hope for the Ubuntu side after all.
