Forward

I am writing to inform you that I will retire as CEO of Microsoft in the next 12 months, once a successor has been selected. There is never a perfect time for this kind of transition, but now is the right time. My original thoughts about time my retirement would have happened in the middle of our transformation to a device and services company focused on strengthening customers in the activities that they value most. We need a CEO, who here longer be term for this new direction. Read the press release, Microsoft News Center.

This is a time of major transformation for Microsoft. Our new senior management team is amazing. The strategy that we have created is first class. Our new organization, the functions and technical areas is centered, is right for the opportunities and challenges.

Microsoft is an amazing place. I love this company. I love the way how, which we helped to invent and popularize, computing, and PC. I love the enchanted and boldness of our operations. I love our people and their talent, and our willingness to accept, and their range of capabilities, including their quirks to embrace. I love the way that we embrace change with other companies around the world and to work successfully together. I love the width and diversity of our customers, consumers, businesses, industries, countries and people of all backgrounds and age groups.

I am proud of what we have achieved. We have grown from $7.5 million to nearly $78 billion, since I came to Microsoft, and we have grown some more than 30 employees to almost 100,000. I feel good to me play a role in this success and 100 percent emotionally very committed. We have to earn more than 1 billion users and a large profit for our shareholders. We have supplied more profit and cash back to shareholders than virtually any other company in history.

I am passionate about our mission of improving the world and believe in our future success. I appreciate my Microsoft-owned and continue to enjoy as one of the largest owners of Microsoft's.

This is an emotional and difficult thing for me to do. This step is in the best interest of the company, which I love; It's what outside my family and closest friends, that matters most to me.

Microsoft has his best days in the future. Know you are part of the best team in the industry and have the right IT resources. We can and do not miss a beat in these transitions. I'm focused and hard and know that I is the same on all of you do include driving can. We're proud".
